EMDR and trauma-focused therapy for adults in Birmingham and online. Specialist, evidence-based treatment for those who have tried talk therapy and need something that works at a deeper level.
Book a free consultation callI qualified as a counselling psychologist in 2012 and trained specifically in EMDR the following year with EMDR Europe. Since then, trauma therapy and EMDR have been the centre of my clinical practice — in NHS mental health services, in specialist trauma charities, and now in my own private practice in Birmingham.
I work with adults who have experienced single-incident trauma, complex or developmental trauma, and the kind of anxiety and avoidance that builds up when difficult experiences haven't been adequately processed. Many of my clients have tried other approaches first — and EMDR is what finally works.
I also offer regular supervision to other EMDR practitioners and therapists working with trauma. If you're a clinician looking for supervision, please get in touch separately.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is a structured, evidence-based therapy that helps the brain reprocess traumatic memories that have become "stuck." Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR doesn't require you to discuss traumatic events in detail.
It is recommended by NICE (the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) as a first-line treatment for PTSD, and research consistently shows it to be one of the most effective trauma treatments available.
